‘Tam Cam: The Untold Story’ invited to join Busan Film Festival

Vietnamese movie "Tam Cam: The Untold Story’ has been invited to join the 21st Busan International Film Festival held in the Republic of Korea (RoK) from October 6-15.

‘Tam Cam: The Untold Story’, the first cinema production of Director and actress Ngo Thanh Van, is a Vietnamese fairy tale in a similar vein to Cinderella.

The film has been chosen to compete in the category of ‘A Window on Asian Cinema’ for new and representative films by talented Asian filmmakers.

Director Van included numerous fantasy elements and monsters to the story. In the film, Tam falls in love with a prince who was struggling against an evil presence in the royal court and helps him win back the country.

Three weeks after the premiere, Tam Cam took in over VND40billion (US$1.79million) at local theatres.

According to Kim Ji-seok, the festival’s Content Director, ‘Tam Cam: The Untold Story’ could be an important step for Vietnam to reach out to the international market.

Earlier, an agreement to buy the copyrights to the film was signed between Vietnam’s VAA production unit, BHD company and a RoK’s company, Kidari Ent.

At last year’s festivals, a number of Vietnamese films were also selected including Bi, Don`t Be Afraid by Phan Dang Di, Flapping in the Middle of Nowhere by Nguyen Hoang Diep and Quyen by Nguyen Phan Quang Binh.
